Look out ladies...

We do believe JR will be a heartbreaker! At 8 weeks old, he is smiling all the time now...

Hey Peeps! Lots of new firsts!

Well, the Parrish family has been busy with lots of fun the past two weeks. Here are some of the highlights:

JR had his first trip to Wofford for the annual "Eggstravanganza" event...
He had his first trip out of state to Asheville and Franklin, North Carolina (shown below at the Little Tennessee River)...He met his "Uncle Adam" and "Aunt Kent"for the first time...

He celebrated Easter with Gance, Papa John, Emme, Mommy and Daddy...

And this week he will be two months old! He is really smiling at us now and is so happy (despite the frowny face in the photo above...Remsen thinks it was the silly bunny hat on his head)!

Blooming at the Parrish house

I love spring! The weather has been beautiful the past few days and our peach tree started to bloom. It is going to be amazing this year!

JR is blooming, too! At six weeks old, he is really alert and makes lots of funny faces. He is also a good eater and sleeper! He is regularly sleeping four or five hours at night...hopefully he has figured out the difference between daytime and nighttime!

Computer Sense

I apologize for the inconvenience but there appear to be some hackers taped into Blogspot. We have had instances where a comment has been left that says Click Here and it takes you to a malicious site. I will continue to try and monitor these comments. If you see a comment that looks suspicious, please do not click on any of the links in the comment. It is so unfortunate that there are people out there that are so sad and so desperate for attention that they have to take enjoyment from others to have any type of satisfaction in their lives.

In the words of Peter Griffin: “And folks, that’s what really Grinds my Gears…back to you Tom.”

First trip to Cottonwood Trail

Today's beautiful weather gave us the perfect opportunity to get on the Cottonwood Trail with our whole family! We would have gone earlier, but we didn't want to take our nice stroller offroad and JR (until recently) was not big enough for the Baby Bjorn. Now that he is a whopping 11 1/2 pounds and 21 inches long, we were ready for our afternoon nature walk!

Silly Sadie

I awoke Saturday morning to find Sadie being a lazy, crazy dog bed hog. She is spanning her bed and Polk's, which are at the foot of our bed. Poor Polk...no wonder he is so disgruntled!

I love the picture above. It looks like Sadie is wailing a monster ballad; in reality, it's just a yawn...

Reading Rainbow...

Does anyone out there in blogger land recall the show Reading Rainbow? I remember it really vividly from my childhood. I loved how the host would dish about great books with fun illustrations and give a synopsis of a different book in every episode. And I loved the music that introduced the show. It was one of those PBS shows...not as popular as Sesame Street or Mr. Rogers, but a truly great program nonetheless (especially if you were a voracious reader like I was). I couldn't read books fast enough and loved how they entertained me. I loved tv, too, so Reading Rainbow was the perfect combination for me.
Long story short, being on maternity leave has afforded me the possibility of checking out daytime tv. Among the mindless talk shows, daytime soaps, and otherwise crappy programming, I have found Reading Rainbow! It is slightly different, but I was excited to see that the show still existed and JR might, one day, love it (and reading) as much as I did.

That said, I have recently rekindled my love for reading this past month, finishing the aforementioned Savannah Blues and Savannah Breeze, and now Jeannette Walls' memoir The Glass Castle. It was beautifully written, though disturbing...I could not put it down. The author's childhood was crazy, and reading about it stirred all sorts of emotions...shock, anger, joy...all for a complete stranger. I HIGHLY recommend it. Many thanks to my great friend Susan for loaning it to me! I am now reading another Mary Kay Andrews book, Hissy Fit, in hopes of lightening my reading mood (thanks Meredith for loaning me this one!).

Don't get me wrong, even if I have focused more time and energy to reading, I still love my tube time! I am pumped for tonight's season finale of Project Runway (GO JILLIAN!) and celebrated when LOST finally started back (even if I can't figure out what the hell is going on)...if only my other favorites had not been interrupted by the writers' strike...it makes Tivo so sad and lonely!

Already a Clemson Fan

With all the toys and funny faces mommy and daddy make, the first thing to really grab his attention is a mobile sent from California by Aaron and Pam Hipp. It is a Clemson mobile with baby tigers that twirl to Tiger Rag. See the video to check out how much he loves it. It is a little dark, but it is our first attempt. Thanks Aaron and Pam!

PS. Thanks Aaron for not sending an NC Stat mobile. We did not want to doom the poor kid at a month old.
