This just in...

JR's first tooth is poking its way through his bottom gums.

Also, I added three new videos of JR this morning on You Tube: http://nz.youtube.com/user/beccaparrish

Happy Hump Day to all!

Playpen...reimagined

So, JR had a doctor's appointment yesterday (good health except for his cold, which meant postpoing 6 month shots). He weighed in just over 20 pounds and 26.5 inches long, still at the 75th percentile for growth. He is hitting all of the milestones and has a tooth bud working its way in, too. Best part of the visit (well, next to seeing Dr. Webb and nurse Lynn), was the crucnhy paper on the examining table! JR had a blast grabbing, ripping, and chewing on that noisy stuff! After the appointment, I brought him back to work for about an hour, where he entertained himself in his ghetto playpen. That's right, folks, I improvised with a box, and he could not have been happier to investigate his cardboard haven. See for yourself:

Fun August shots

JR is so funny these days...chatting up a storm, eating everything in sight, sucking his thumb, and play wrestling with Remsen....we have a potential for an Olympian yet...he might just have learned his cousin, Mackenzie's, patented move (AKA, the "asshammer"). What I love the most about the photos below is Remsen's dramatic interpretation of losing a battle with a baby!

Trip to Salt Lake City

We survived our weekend trip to SLC without JR! He was in the very good hands of his granmothers (Gance and Emme) while we were out west for the Gusmer/Yoder wedding.
Salt Lake City was a GREAT town--very clean and laid back atmosphere. Traveling was not as bad as I expected with a direct flight from Charlotte and the GPS in the rented Durango.
Below are some photos from the weekend!

Great weekend with the FAM

Dad and Joan drove up (despite the high gas costs) to Spartanburg to visit this weekend, and we jammed as much Spartanburg sightseeing and fun into their trip as possible. We visited The Beacon and Hatcher Gardens, where JR tried his best to get his hands on Remsen's double cheeseburger (with) a plenty.

We had yet another great meal at Four Seasons, visited with PopPop, and admired our lovely (but very dry) yard. There was a lot of motorboat noises, smooches, and smiles, too.

Cousin's Club Pool Party 2008

On Sunday, the Parrish family took a trip to Easley to see Nena (Remsen's grandmother) for the Cousin's Club Pool Party 2008. If you haven't already figured out, once a year, Remsen's cousins (five cousins, plus spouses & children, Remsen, and his brother) get together at Nena's pool to catch up, swim, test out the diving board, eat, and have a grand time. This year we all gathered (minus Lee's hubby Yancey, who we missed a ton!) and had a great time! Below are some great shots of the day:
