Happy Halloween!

Carving pumpkins with sharp knives is not the safest, most baby-friendly activity (plus it is messy and time consuming!). We took the safe and lazy route which proved to also be the option that proves I have no artistic talent....our W pumpkin is in NO WAY a W for Bush--you guys know me much better than that! Our W is the original W--the Wofford one! I felt it was the best way to pay tribute to our tough Terriers, who will be playing on Halloween night at App State. It is on ESPN 2, which is where our eyeballs will be glued come tomorrow night!

GO TERRIERS!

We will be heading to Pawley's Island this weekend for the official 30th birthday celebration of friend Adam Brannon (of the Brannon Report). We decided to celebrate Halloween early by visiting Emme and Gance's houses last night.

Yes, JR is in a hot dog costume. And yes, he has on a "costume" under that (Charlie Brown onesie). And yes it is true, I bought the hot dog costume last year...before JR was born. How did I get it so right?! He is the best hot dog ever!
We wish everyone a fun Halloween!

Talker

Ladies and gentlemen,
We have a babbling baby on our hands...

Well baby

Thanks to the rapid effects of antibiotics, our child (who was suffering from his first ear infection) is on the road to recovery. The happier version of JR is back....trying to crawl, pulling up, almost holding his own bottle, laughing, and talking up a storm with baaababa.
He is also growing like a weed (a big, fat stocky weed). I am finding it hard to dress him in this fall weather, too, as the art of layering is not the easiest task with a baby. Nevertheless, we'll be shopping for some new, bigger clothes this weekend so baby boy has tops and bottoms that properly fit....

New furniture for the living room

I finally downloaded some pictures of the new armoire, ottoman, and biggest couch ever.

Yep, we're the family who is out spending money during the economic crisis. No worries, we paid cash.

Finally!

Baby JR finally slept last night. He woke up refreshed and in a much better mood. Hurrah!

Quote of the day

Remsen said it best this morning: "You can't spell jerk without JR."
Yes, we had yet another sleepless night.
We miss our sweet, quiet six month old who slept all night and smiled all day. He has been replaced by a thrashing, screaming eight month old who is frustrated he can't crawl, can't poop, can't put a dog tail in his mouth....teething? cold? belly ache? Who knows; he certainly can't tell us.
Yeah, I know our baby isn't really a jerk...but you trying going several nights without sleep and see what words come out to describe the experience. We still love the little bugger...just wishing he could rest easy.

Anything but humdrum ordinary

Time has escaped me. Fall crept up and so did a pile of housework, work work, and baby work. All apologies aside for my absence in the blogging world...I am back with a mega-blog with tons of pictures. No more whining like an eight month old!
The Parrish family has fallen into a pretty steady routine these days, and with the exception of some sleepless nights, it goes like this:
Wake up, feed baby, get baby ready to go to school (Remsen takes him to school
Go to work...(left work early today to meet Wofford kids at our house to give them our couch and "man chair" pleather recliner, as new furniture gets delivered tomorrow!) Bye-bye old furniture! Enjoy your new life in the fancy new Wofford senior dorms!

Pick up baby from school and go home...(enter cooking here; it is my week to cook. Tonight was taco night. fast. easy. delicious.) in the meantime, JR plays with Remsen. Still attempting to perfect his crawling technique (JR, not Remsen). Tripod method (legs and head) not really working.
feed baby and us. more play time. then a bath.

JR loves bathtime and stays in the tub until pruney. after bath time, he tries to make a daring escape from his crib while I am trying to dress him. He also attempts to eat his foot.

More crawling practice. If only he could figure out how to work his arms.

Then it's time for his night-time bottle, which knocks him out in time for Remsen and me to watch the end of Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report. We will most likely poop out early....just in time to sleep, wake up, and do it all over again!
Stay tuned for more of the exciting Parrish Family adventures!
